Just before quarterfinal matches got under way at the 2011 U.S. Open, the press corps assembled in the media center to present awards to 11 writers whose work placed in the 12th Annual USTWA Writing Contest.

Thirteen Writers Take Honors in 11th Annual USTWA Writing Contest
The Los Angeles Times is the winningest publication with three articles by columnist Bill Dwyre. Double winners are Inside Tennis editor Bill Simons and freelance writers Paul Fein and Joshua Rey.

ITA/USTWA Sports Information Director & Student Writing Competitions

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and our organization hosted contests this spring to recognize and encourage great writing by sports information directors and university students.

2010
Entries were plentiful, and the winners have been announced by Mark Winters, who coordinated the competitions. Winners are listed below, and to read the winning entries, visit the ITA Web site.

Student Writing Competition

SID Writing Competition

2009
First Place in the ITA/USTWA SID Writing Competition went to Matt Holmes of Western Michigan University.
First Place in the ITA/USTWA Student Writing Competition was awarded to Paul Mariet of MacAlester College in Minnesota.
